Dr. Matt Helm is a visionary leader, healer, clinician, therapist, and owner of Freedom’s Edge, an organization dedicated to freeing human beings from the prison of trauma and dismantling the oppressive forces that keep people from their true selves and highest potential.

He brings over 20 years of experience working in university and nonprofit settings and as a private practice therapist. His professional focus is on freeing his clients and students from the debilitating effects of unhealed trauma, addiction, and shame. He also brings a strong focus to how trauma impacts relationships at every level (intimate partnerships, parenting, and work).

His workshops and talks focus on freedom, thriving, resiliency, well-being, spiritual intelligence, and conscious relationships.

Dr. Helm is a licensed professional counselor, certified wellness director and holistic stress management instructor and has presented numerous times at local, regional, and national conferences. His work empowers people to live more meaningful lives. Teaching people to build sustainable lives around their authentic selves, Dr. Helm facilitates growth by empowering his students and clients to be the architects and designers of the lives they yearn for and are capable of leading.

His message of love, healing, and living fully has drawn countless people from around the world to his talks and workshops. He works with clients one-on-one to resolve trauma and the mental, emotional, and physical blocks which obscure the ever-present alignment of the real self.

He emanates the untamable power of freedom whilst radically embracing the mystery human existence.

Dr. Helm, received a B.A. in psychology and an M.A. in Student Development from Michigan State University. Dr. Helm completed his Ph.D. at the University of Arizona in Higher Education, where his research focused on identity, professional socialization, and the social construction of reality.
